First post, Second Semester - Expectancy
As I look back on this last semester, I am just overwhelmed by Jesus. Hundreds of prayer warriors arose in a couple months. 56 days of sustained and unbroken 24 hour prayer took place. Hundreds more showed up in the icy cold to worship a fiery God. His marvelous light shined brightly.
And in light of this amazing work of God, I am humbled. I am humbled because I know that this is only the beginning. The mere introduction to the story of revival at Arizona State University. We've broken out the good china, washed down all the floors and rolled out the red carpet. Now we're just waiting for the guest of honor to appear. We think He might be late. It seems like He's always trying to surprise us.
"For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you." (Isaiah 64:3)
I think Jesus likes surprising His bride, the Church. Surprise gifts always seem to get the better reaction. Have you ever noticed the difference in reactions? The reaction to a sweet gift that was unexpected is way better than the reaction you get after opening a box of socks you saw coming a mile away. It's that gift that is so thoughtful and unique that moves your heart- that thing you knew you wanted, but never thought to ask for. Those are the best.
"Since ancient times no one has heard,
no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides you,
who acts on behalf of those who wait for him."
He is all I want. He is all I've ever needed. And I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing a lot more of Him this semester.
"Come Jesus, come. We want You more than anything."
